Around 2:50 p.m. this afternoon, crews responded to a multi-vehicle crash involving a fire on northbound I-5 near 72nd St.

Crews extinguished the vehicle fire as well as a nearby grass fire, preventing the flames from spreading any further.

Minor injuries reported.

Crews are currently on-scene. Please prepare for traffic delays.

NB I-5 at 72nd St. is fully blocked for a two semi-three car collision. Some of the vehicles became fully engulfed but luckily there are only minor injuries as a result.

Traffic is being diverted to the 72nd St. off ramp. Expect delays on your Friday evening commute.

Updated: Collision on I-5 NB at MP 129.59 at S 72nd St/S 74th St beginning at 2:58 pm on July 24, 2026 until further notice. The roadway is closed.

The SB I-5 exit ramp to Thorne Lane (Exit 123) is fully blocked for a 1 semi-ditch collision. All JBLM traffic from I-5 will have to divert to Exits 122 and 120 until this is cleaned up.

At approximately 6:30pm crews responded to a brush fire near the 7100 block of 146th St. SW in Lakewood. Upon arrival crews worked hard to quickly gain access and extinguish a 40x40 brush fire.

There were no injuries reported and the fire is under investigation.

Firefighters are on scene of a car fire on Northbound I-5 at Bridgeport. The fire is under control, but two lanes of traffic are currently closed. Be safe and go slowly through this area.

West Pierce Firefighters responded to a fire at the 8600 block of 29th Ave Ct SW in Lakewood. No injuries were reported. Four adults and one child were displaced and have been connected with the Red Cross for assistance. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Occupants are out of the home, firefighters have safely extricated one pet. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
